An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal document that assesses the safety and condition of the electrical installation within a property. It identifies any deficiencies, damage, deterioration or dangerous conditions that need to be addressed to bring the installation up to current safety standards.
In Scotland, EICRs are mandatory for all private rented properties under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (Scotland) Regulations 2015. Landlords must have a valid EICR in place and remedial work completed within 28 days of receiving the report.
